Operating systems for Pocket PCs and smartphones, developed
by Microsoft Inc. include a family of Windows Mobile. To supersede Windows Mobile, Microsoft
announced the launch of Windows Phonein 2010; with new operating systems (OS)
which is incompatible with Windows Mobile devices and software, and it result
discontinuing Windows Mobile.
The ability of navigating files similarly as Windows 95,
Windows 98 and Windows NT with support for many same files types, features such
as multitasking includes the set of features that most of the versions of
Windows Mobile include.
To perform basic tasks, bundled with a set of
applications, Windows Mobile comes a lot alike its desktop counterpart. Videos
and music are played with Windows media player, and the default internet
browser is Internet explorer mobile. Including Outlook Mobile as the default
office suite, Windows Mobile has Microsoft Office Mobile. On compatible
devices, internet sharing supported, which allows the phone to make its
internet connection available for computers via USB and Bluetooth.

displayed on the Today screen, which was later named Home Screen. Devices with
cellular radio signal strength, audio volume, and current time is displayed at
the taskbar. For touch screen user interfaces, Windows Mobile Apps are highly encouraged for optimizing.
At its first appearance as the Pocket PC 2000 operating
system, Windows Mobile was based on Windows CE Kernel.Application suite
developed with Microsoft Windows API was included in Windows Mobile initial
release, and is designed to have feature and appearances slightly alike
Windows’ desktop version.Microsoft imposed no restrictions for third party mobile app development for Windows
Mobile. From Windows Marketplace for mobile, software applications were
purchasable during the service’s life span.
